Message Review

Ordinary people like us can make an extraordinary impact on the lives of those we care about and the world around us. Rahab, a former prostitute in Jericho, had a moment of faith when she chose to prioritize courage over fear and align herself with God's purpose. This decision transformed her life and had a long-lasting effect on the lives of others.

Main Point: Choosing to take next steps will lead to an enduring impact.

Scripture References: Hebrews 11:1, Hebrews 11:30-31, Revelations 22:17

Discussion Questions

  • What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon and why?

  • Recall someone in your life who may be considered a common person but has made a significant impact, who was the person and what impact did they have?

  • Pastor Tim Mackey says this about faith; “It starts with a reason and purpose, and it ends with action. It is not just a mental state of mind but is an experience you have as a result of the choices you make.” What does this quote say about faith to you?

  • Read Joshua 2:11 again as a group. The verse shows Rahab’s reason for faith, what are the reasons in your life for faith? (ex. A circumstance that requires a step toward Jesus)

  • With faith comes opposition. Why do you think this is true? What opposition have to seen or faced personally from taking steps of faith?

  • Tim said belief without action lacks weight and purpose. How would you explain this in your own words?

  • God extends His invitation universally, without exclusion. How can we follow His example and invite others towards Jesus?

  • Tim showed a clip from Jesus Revolution, what stuck out to you in that clip, and why?

  • Read Revelations 22:17 as a group. What does this passage say about who is welcomed to drink from the water of life?
