Message Review

We all want to be a part of a church we love, but that won’t happen by accident. Over the next four weeks, we will explore four commitments that create a healthy, transformational, and God-glorifying church that you will love to be a part of. The first commitment is to be engaged.

Main Point: To create a church you love; you must be engaged in the mission of it.

Scripture References: 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 27; Romans 12:3-8

The focus Bible passage from the sermon was Romans 12:1-8 Before going to the Sermon Discussion Questions, study the passage by reading through it together, then talk through it using the following Inductive Bible Study Method questions that follow:

  • Context: Discuss the context of this passage (Use the Bible Overview to learn the context)

Discussion Questions

  • What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon, and why?

  • What do you love about Relevant Community Church? How do you think what you love about Relevant happened?

  • What are some potential things that cause people not to love their church?

  • Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-13,27. What is the Church according to the Apostle? What does that mean and look like to be lived out?

  • According to the Apostle Paul, the church is a people, the body of Christ, called to be Jesus’ hands and feet. Unfortunately, why have so many people made the church a product to be consumed? What are the outcomes of the church being viewed as a product to consume instead of the body of Christ to be fully engaged in?

  • Read Romans 12:3-5 again.

    • Based on what Paul wrote, what potentially causes people to become consumers?

    • What is true of every person who puts their faith in Jesus according to Paul? What are the implications of living that out or not?

  • Read Romans 12:6-8 again. According to Paul, how do we operate as a fully functioning member of the body of Christ?

  • Ronnie’s main point was that to create a church you and others love; you must be engaged in its mission by serving on a team. Do you believe that to be true? Why or why not?

  • Our body (Relevant) needs everybody to be engaged in our church's mission by serving on a team.

    • If you are engaged in serving on a team, what has been your experience? How does your serving help advance the mission? If not, what is stopping you from engaging?

  • What next step is Jesus inviting you to take to be engaged in the mission of this (the Relevant Community Church) body?
