Message Review

We all want to be a part of a church we love, but that won’t happen by accident. Throughout this series, we’re exploring four commitments that create a healthy, transformational, and God-glorifying church you love to be a part of. The second commitment is to be connected.

Main Point: To create a church you love, you must be connected in a healthy and transformational smaller community of people within the church.

Scripture References: John 13:34-35; John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13,27; Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Peter 2:9-10

Discussion Questions

  • What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon, and why?

  • Why is it important for us to know and remember that the church is a people, not a building or an event?

  • Since the church is a people, in order to truly be part of a church you love, you must be committed to be connected to the people of the church.

    • What does it look like to be committed to being connected to one another?

    • What prevents people (maybe you) from doing that?

    • What’s at stake if we aren’t committed to being connected to one another?

  • Read 1 Peter 2:9-10 as a group. Who does Peter say we are as the church? What does that mean?

  • What are some potential consequences of making church into a ME-focused thing instead of a WE-focused thing?

  • As a group, identify some elements of a healthy, transformational, and God-glorifying church from these passages: (1) John 13:34-35, (2) John 17:20-23, (3) 1 Corinthians 12:24-27, (4) Hebrews 10:24-25.

    • Is that your current church experience? Why do you think that’s what you’re experiencing?

  • Ronnie said that to create a church you love, you must be connected to a healthy and transformational smaller community within the church. Do you agree? Why or why not?

  • Relevant’s vision is that every T-Life Group is a healthy and transformational smaller community of people. What are some indicators of a healthy and transformational T-Life Group?

  • In what ways is our T-Life group healthy and transformational?

  • How can our T-Life Group become more healthy and transformational?

  • What next steps can WE take together to create a healthy and transformational T-Life Group?

  • What next step can YOU take to help create a healthy and transformational T-Life Group?
