Message Review

The 5th catalyst God uses to fuel our faith is Personal Ministry. Personal Ministry positions us to experience God’s Power in our weakness and His faithfulness in response to our acts of faith. When we do what only we can by having a primary ministry, God does what only He can do and transforms our faith, church, and world through our church.

Main Point | Our faith grows when we trust God to do what only He can do, by doing what only we can do.

Scripture References | Matthew 14:13-21

Discussion Questions

  • This Week’s Sermon was about God using Personal Ministry as a catalyst to fuel our faith. What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon and why?

  • What does it mean to have a personal ministry, and why do you think this is a catalyst God uses to fuel our faith?

  • Every Follower of Christ will experience the internal nudge to step in and embrace a personal ministry at some point.  Have you ever felt that nudge before?  What did you do in response to it?  How did it impact your faith?

  • Read Matthew 14:16-17 with your group again.  What do you think the disciples thought and felt when Jesus said this to them?

  • Why do you think we often feel tension when nudged to step in and embrace a personal ministry?

  • Read Matthew 14:18-19 with your group again.  What two things did the disciples do that made the miracle possible?  What does that have to do with “walking by faith”?

  • Pastor Ronnie said, “When we do what only we can do by having a primary ministry, God does what only He can do and transforms our faith, our church, and the world through our church.”  How is seeing and experiencing what only God can do related to us doing what we can do?  How have you seen or experienced this?

  • Do you have a primary ministry at Relevant by serving on a team? If so, how has that impacted your faith?  If not, how might Jesus be nudging you?

  • What is Jesus inviting you to trust Him with and do regarding personal ministry, or any of the other faith catalysts we discussed in this series?
