Message Review

We are in a battle daily, so we must daily prepare for battle. Prayer is where and how we daily prepare to stand firm. To not be devoured by our enemy we must daily be prepared to stand firm, but we can’t stand firm on our own strength. We don’t have to, through His death and resurrection, Jesus has already won it. All we need to do to stand firm is put on Jesus and his mighty power by putting on armor of God daily. Prayer is where we connect with Jesus, put on the armor of God and where God transforms us to enable us to stand firm.

Main Point | Prayer is where we prepare.

Scripture References | Daniel 10:1-20; Ephesians 6:10-18

Questions

  • When people say “Just pray about it” how do you think that makes people feel when their heart is heavy, or they are experiencing a difficult situation?

  • What reasons have you heard people say when prayers go unanswered? Why can these reasons be damaging to a person trying to walk with Jesus? (ex. You have unconfessed sin in your life)

  • Pastor Ronnie used a story from Daniel 10 to highlight why our prayers aren’t always answered when and how we thought they should have been. How does it make you feel there is someone out to affect your pray life to push you away from Jesus? How does it make you want to pray differently?

  • Pastor Ronnie said that one reason many prayers go unanswered is because we treat God like a genie and pray for want, we want when we want it. Why do you think we give up so quickly when we pray?

  • Read Ephesians 6:18. What phrase or words stick out to you in this verse and why?

  •  In the midst of the battle what we need most is NOT them, things, or circumstances to change, what we need most is Jesus. How can we use prayer to draw us closer to Jesus?

  • For you and me to Stand Firm in the battle we need to have each other’s back through prayer. What are practical ways we can start doing this in our group? Come up with at least one next step as a group and put it into practice this week.

Challenge Question | Does when you pray, how your pray, and why you pray need to be different in your life? If so, what is our next step?

Application

This week spend time walking through the challenge question above. Assess whether when, how and why you pray are currently connecting you to Jesus and allowing you to put on the armor of God. In any area you feel you might be lacking create one next step and take it this week.

Verse to Remember:

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people
