Message Review

We are in a battle daily, so we must daily prepare for battle. To stand firm in this daily battle, we must daily use the sword of The Spirit to be ready to fight in this spiritual war with the weapons of The Word. To win the battle against the enemy we cannot remain passive. But to fight with the word of God we must know the word of God. With the word of God as our weapon we must fight to take strongholds back and take ground in the battle.

Main Point | To fight with the weapons of the word of God we must know the word of God.

Scripture References | Ephesians 6:10-17; 2 Corinthians 11:14; Revelation 12:7-9; John 10:10; 1 John 4:4; Luke 10:17-19; Philippians 2:10; Revelation 12:10; John 8:31-32; John 17:17

Questions

  • Have you ever had to go on the offensive in a fight like Pastor Matt? What happened and what were the results?

  • Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-4: What words stick out to you in this passage? Do you think, with the help of Jesus, you can demolish strongholds?

  • Pastor Matt talked about the Greek word translated as strongholds which was, to fortify, through the idea of holding safely. Why do you think that we let ourselves be held captive by strongholds that with action we can be free from?

  • Read 2 Corinthians 10:5: Paul gives active steps to take against Satan. What steps can you take to take your thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ?

  • Pastor Matt talked about three realities we need to believe which are the devil is real, the devil’s goal is to destroy you and the devil responds to a higher authority. Why is it vital that we believe these realities to help in the fight against the heavenly realm?

  • Read Philippians 2:10 ; Revelation 12:10 and John 8:31-32. What truths can we find in these verses to go on the offensive in this battle?

Challenge Question | What are or have been the strongholds in your life?

Application

Commit yourself to Jesus then spend this week praying for strongholds to be revealed then use the Word of God to break those and fill those areas with Jesus. Finally spend time daily confronting the enemy in prayer. When we are in close communion with God it will be difficult for Satan to find your weak points.

Verse to Remember:

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
