Message Review
Sex is not just a physical thing. It’s a soul thing. When we take sex outside of God’s design, we damage our soul. If we’re honest with ourselves, none of us would choose that. But let’s get more honest, we naturally want to step outside of God’s design. What’s the issue? The real issue for all of us when it comes to sex is surrender. Surrender what? Everything.
Main Point | Sexual immorality is a surrender issue.
Scripture References | Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Challenge Question | (1) Will you follow Jesus by honoring God with your body? (2) What do I need to surrender today?
Questions
Ronnie mentioned two things that keep us from following Jesus fully in this area. 1) Self-preservation and 2) Self-gratification. What are the differences between the two and how do they keep us from following Jesus fully?
Let’s talk about what Paul said Romans 12:1. What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? Why would he instruct us to be a living sacrifice? How does this connect to sexual immorality? How would living in the way benefit you?
Continue to Romans 12:2. What does it mean to renew your mind…renew it from what? How does one renew his or her mind in Christ? What practical ways can one do this?
Read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Sexual immorality includes everything outside of God’s design for sex. Are you honoring God with your body? Honoring God with our body doesn’t just include the physical act. Think about your mind, your heart, your mouth, your entire body. Is there an area you need to surrender over to Jesus?
Next Step
As we finish this series, where does God want you to take a next step? Single, married, divorced, dating, engaged, same sex attracted, etc. Have you surrendered this area over to God? Pray this: Jesus, whatever it is I desire, may I desire you more. Whatever it is I seek, may I seek you more. Whatever it is I love, may I love you more. Whatever it is I’m following, may I follow you alone. Jesus I surrender all.
