Message Review
There’s truly nothing else in the world like sex. Because of that, there’s also nothing else in the world that impacts us like sex. It connects people, drives people, destroys people, and divides people. Culture convinces us, and sometimes we convince ourselves, that sex is only physical. But if that is true, why is the pain of sexual sin so deep? It’s because sex is not just a physical thing. It’s a soul thing.
Main Point | There’s nothing like sex, because nothing impacts like sex.
Scripture References | 1 Corinthians 6:18, 1 Corinthians 6:15-16, 18-20
Challenge Question | Do you want to honor God with your body?
Questions
What was your view on sex growing up? What do you remember about the “sex talk” with your mom or dad? Who do you think felt more awkward, you or them?
If someone younger than you asked you for one piece of advice about sex, what would you tell him/her?
Do you agree with the concept that sex isn’t just physical? Why or why not? What experiences or evidence do you have that supports the idea that sex is more than physical?
What are some consequences of treating sex like any other physical act?
God created sex to be so much more than a physical thing. He created it to be a soul thing. But when mishandled, it can affect our soul and its ability to relate to God, others and even ourselves. Why do you think that is? In what ways would you say it affects those three?
What are some of the questions you hope are addressed in this series?
Next Step
As we continue the rest of the series, we encourage you to stay tuned to what is happening within you. Do you feel shame? That is not from God. Get help. Do you feel convicted to change? That is from God. Decide to make a change.
