All the Ways You Can Serve

Administration Teams

Teams that use their gifts of administration to drive Relevant’s mission. Includes office support team.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves at least once per month and when special projects require extra help

• Individuals are schedule monthly depending on their availability

Sprouts

Teams that invest in the lives of birth through pre-k children to help lay a foundation for little ones to know Jesus. Includes areas such as holding babies, teaching, crafts, music, greeting parents, and small group leaders. *Background check required

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves 1-2 times a month

• Individuals typically get scheduled 1-2 times a month

 Relevant Kids

Teams that invest in the lives of K-5th grade children to help them begin a relationship with Jesus and take steps toward living a transformed life. Includes areas such as check-in, sound and production, storytelling, games, worship, small group leaders, special needs helpers, social media and administration. *Background check required

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves every week during Sunday gatherings

• Individuals typically get scheduled a minimum of twice a month

Creative Communications

Teams that use creative media to reach people for Jesus, impact lives in our community, and spread the word about Relevant. Includes Graphic Design, Web, Photography, Social Media, Video, and Storytelling teams.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves 1-2 times per month

Community Impact Teams

Teams that focus on community wellbeing, school investment and business support. They include events such as Elkhorn Days, Flix at the Chef movie nights, Serve Day, the Elkhorn Leadership Breakfast, and the Tree Lighting Party. Our school adoption leads are the relational liaison with schools we have adopted.

Commitment Level:

• The event Teams serve just before and during the specific event

• School Adoption leads serve once a month during the school year

Facilities Teams

Teams that make it possible for Relevant to use our facility to reach people, engage the Relevant body and impact our community and the world. These teams help to make the Relevant Center look World Class. Includes Sunday setup and teardown GUTS team, Sunday and Encounter Cleaning Crew, Handyman Team, and Landscaping teams.

Commitment Level:

• Team Serves:

  • Handyman Team serve as needed or when projects arise

  • Landscape Team serve seasonally (growing season)

  • GUTS and Cleaning Crew teams serve weekly throughout the year

• Individuals typically get scheduled:

  • GUTS volunteers serve 1-2 month

  • Cleaning Crew serve 1-2 month (Couples)

  • Landscape Team serve 1-2 month

Global Impact Teams

Team that helps plan, facilitate and serve at our Global Impact opportunities that help bring long-term transformation to the Karen people from Burma. Opportunities include monthly serving at The Furniture Project and with Restoring Dignity. Volunteers help with home makeover projects as well as collecting, organizing, cleaning and delivering donated items to refugee families. This team also plans and prepares volunteers for overseas trips to Thailand and Burma.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves together once a month

• Individuals select what months they are available to serve

Guest Services Teams

Teams that exist to provide a world class guest experience by creating a welcoming environment at Relevant Gatherings and special events. Includes Greeters, Ushers, Refreshment Hosts, and Parking Attendants.

Commitment Level:

• These teams serve weekly during Sunday Morning Gatherings

• Individuals typically get scheduled 2x per month.

Music Team

Team that uses music to help people experience the presence of God through the praises of God at Relevant Gatherings and special events. Includes the Worship Team.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves weekly

• Individual scheduling varies

Next Steps Team

This team exists to help people take immediate next steps of engagement at Sunday Gatherings and First Thursday. We answer question and help people take whatever step is going to help them engage more in the Relevant body.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves on Sunday morning gatherings.

• Individuals self-schedule monthly depending on their availability.

Photography Team

This team exists to capture Relevant moments on film. We use the photos to powerfully tell stories of what God is doing in and through our church. Photography experience preferred.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves every Sunday

• Individuals typically get scheduled once a month & occasional events.

 Production

Join a team committed to creating environments that inspire worship and encourage people to take their next step in following Jesus. Serving opportunities include multimedia presentation (video and lyric projection), lighting design, video broadcasting, camera operation, and sound engineering. No prior experience is needed—training is provided!

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves Wednesdays for rehearsal from 7-9pm when applicable, and Sundays from 7:30 to 11:45am

• Individuals typically get scheduled 2 times a month

Safety Team

This team works to create a safe environment for guests as they work to mitigate risks and operate with compassion, kindness, and common sense. *Background check required

Rooted

Teams that invest in the lives of our middle school students to help them navigate questions and situations that come up in middle school and help them develop a faith of their own. Includes areas such as guest services, communication, sound and production, prayer, set up/tear down, and small group leaders. *Background check required

Commitment Level:

Youth United

Invest in the lives of our high school students to help them live a transformed life. Includes areas such as check-in, sound and production, and small group leaders. *Background check required

Relevant 101 / 201

Teams that help equip people know more about Relevant, how to follow Jesus, and how to become Volunteer Staff. Includes Relevant 101 and Relevant 201 Small Group Leader, or Production and Event Set Up Teams.

Commitment Level:

• Team serves every trimester: 10 week classes

  • Sundays from 1:30pm - 3:00pm

T-Life Group Leader

Lead or Co-Lead a small group of people through a Relevant T-Life Group. Includes Men’s Groups, Women’s Groups, Married Groups, and Young Adult Groups. There is also the opportunity to host a group at your home, but not lead.

Commitment Level:

Groups meet Monday - Saturday at varying times

Money Wise Mentor

Money Wise Mentoring is a program designed to help people navigate their financial needs. Mentors will sit down with people and help them create a custom financial plan that they can stick to. Mentors meet with mentee’s monthly to ensure the plan is working for them and make adjustments to the plan until they feel the plan is something they can consistently stick to.

Commitment Level:

• Can vary but set and agree on by mentor and mentee

Fresh Start Leader

A team that helps people learn and apply a 6-step process to help process issues of hurt, offense and loss. Serving roles include being a table discussion leader at the Fresh Start class and being a process group leader.

Commitment Level:

• Table discussion leaders serve weekly twice a year at class.

• Process Group leaders serve weekly for 7 weeks at a time, following the class.

Marriage Class Leader

Facilitate a class that helps couples prepare for marriage or enrich their marriage. This includes Nearlyweds and Newlyweds for engaged and couples in their first year of marriage and The Naked Marriage and Us in Mind for couples who want their marriage to be the best it can be.

Commitment Level:

• Class Leaders facilitate a 6-7 week class twice a year

Understanding the Bible Class Leader

Facilitate a class that teaches what the Bible is and how to use it.

Commitment Level:

• Class Leaders facilitate a 6-7 week class twice a year

Starting Point Group Leader

Facilitate a small group that explores together, in a judgement free environment, what faith in Jesus is all about.

Commitment Level:

• Class Leaders facilitate a 6-7 week class twice a year

Baptism Team

A team that helps walk people through the process of getting baptized. Once people indicate they want to get baptized, we meet with them to get to know them and explain the process. We help them prepare for and record their story video and schedule their baptism.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves when a baptism interest form is submitted. Typically, once or twice a month. When assigned to someone, you have the initial meeting, plus some correspondence and then their story video recording to attend.

New Faith Teams

Teams that help new followers of Christ take next steps to follow Jesus. This includes New Faith Ambassadors who reach out to people who indicate a faith commitment and the Baptism Team that walks people through the baptism process.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves when a new faith or baptism form is submitted. Typically, once or twice a month.

Care & Support Teams

Teams that provide care and support (physical, emotional and mental) for people who are going through a challenging season. Includes, Funeral Team, Meals Team, Postpartum Healing Team and the Care Team.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves

Celebrate Recovery Team

A team that helps people find freedom from addictions, hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves weekly at the Celebrate Recovery environment.

Fresh Start Team

A team that helps people learn and apply a 6-step process to help process issues of hurt, offense and loss. Serving roles include being a table discussion leader at the Fresh Start class and being a process group leader.

• Table discussion leaders serve weekly twice a year at class. Process Group leaders serve weekly for 7 weeks at a time, following the class.

Prayer Team

A team that covers Relevant in prayer through different avenues such as praying with and for people, interceding on a Sunday morning during the gatherings, prayer over requests, or being assigned Leaders to pray for regularly.

Commitment Level:

• This Team serves at Sunday Gatherings, Encounter and on your own time praying for specific things. Individuals are asked to serve twice a month for Gatherings.

Marriage Support Team

A Team that helps prepare, enrich, and restore marriages at Relevant through leading marriage classes like Nearlywed/Newlywed (Relevant’s pre-marital counseling group), The Naked Marriage class, Us in Mind class, being a mentoring couple, and walking couples through crisis.

Commitment Level:

• Class Leaders facilitate a 6-7 week class twice a year

• Marriage mentors meet with a couple when needed. Usually serving every couple months

• Walking a couple through crisis can take up to 6 months, meeting every few weeks
