T-Life Guide
Relentless: The Book of Acts | Week 1: Our Call | June 3 - 09
Introduction
This week we started our 12-week series through the Book of Acts called "Relentless." Throughout this series, we will be learning about the relentless devotion of the first followers of Jesus to the Kingdom of God, and the transformation that took place because of that relentless devotion. We believe that by giving God a "blank check" with our lives and as a church, we too can be part of seeing transformation in the lives of our community like never before. This week the author Luke has given us God's ultimate calling on our livesto live by and through the Holy Spirit until the return of Christ.
Main Point
God moves with relentless power, when we live with relentless devotion to what Jesus has called us to.
Discussion Questions
  1. As we open the series called Relentless, how do you define the term, "relentless?"
  2. Think about something that you are relentlessly devoted to. What does it look like in your life? Share with the group.
  3. What are your previous experiences with or knowledge of the book of Acts? And more specifically, the first year after Jesus' ascended into Heaven?
  4. Open your Bibles and read Acts 1:1-11. Put yourself into the picture during that time. How would you react? Does this introduction to the book of Acts cause you to live with anticipation and expectation for God's role in your life?
  5. During the sermon Ronnie said, "If we do what only we can do to work the soil now (Relevant's vision theme for 2018), God will do what only He can do to produce an abundant harvest for years to come." How could you see this playing out when you are relentlessly devoted to the Kingdom of God? How would your life be different?
  6. As you hear this question, is there anything the Spirit is immediately prompting in your heart?
Next Step Challenge
Relevant Community Church has been strategically placed at this time and place to do its part to usher in the Kingdom of God. We are fully committed to doing our part here in Elkhorn and know that it will require each and every follower of Jesus to be fully devoted to the Spirit and His callings collectively and individually. Will you commit to "work the soil" relentlessly by giving God a blank check this summer? This week pray for God's relentless pursuit of your individual heart so that we together can relentlessly be devoted to His Kingdom. And pray for the eyes and ears of our community to be open to His transformation.
Key Verse
Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in al Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
