How Do I Know? | Week 2: Know God's Promises | May 13 - 19
God has a specific will for your life, and He wants you to know it more than you do. So how do I know where should I go next? Should I take this job? What am I supposed to do in this situation? Does God even care about this particular decision? When we're faced with questions like this, it sure would be great if we knew what God wanted us to do. The reality is that God wants us to know His will for us! As we continue in our "How Do I Know?" series, we discover that the very best filter to discover God's will is through God's Word.
Main Point
The best filter to discover God's will is God's Word.
Discussion Questions
  1. Thinking backwards from now, what has been your favorite road trip? And what did you use to navigate your way there and backor did you wing it?
  2. Just like our maps, GPS Units, and navigation systems take us to our desired vacation destinations, God's Word, the Bible, can help us navigate our lives in accordance with God's will but many are intimidated by it. Why do you think that is? Are you intimidated by it?
  3. What has been your biggest challenge with the Bible? Were you able to overcome it? If so, how?
  4. In his message, Ronnie said "God wants to speak so much into our lives, and for us to experience Him, but we must go from being milk drinkers to meat eaters." What does this mean to you?
  5. Ronnie gave us three questions to ask when reading a passage of scripture. 1) What is the author saying? 2) What is God saying to me? 3) How do I apply this today? Open your Bible to and read Romans 12:2. Using these three questions, work through this passage and share your insights. If time, do the same thing for 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
  6. Thinking about your daily routine, what would be your best time to begin a routine of reading through scripture? Share this with the group and commit this together in prayer.
Next Step Challenge
If you want to know and do God's will, it starts with your commitment to participate. Are you committed to know and apply the will of God that is revealed in the Word of God? If so start to prove it by setting up a plan this week to begin reading scripture on a regular basis. And if you are not sure where to begin, a good place to start is in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John of the New Testament)
Key Verse
2 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
