T-Life Guide
Follow Me | Week 4: Follow Wear | February 4 - 10
Main Point: Christ followers intentionally put on love.
Challenge Question: What can you do to intentionally "put on" love this week? Who is someone in your life that needs both grace and truth this week?
Key Verse: Colossians 3:14
Scripture References: Colossians 3:12-14 John 13:35 John 1:14 Romans 2:4 Ephesians 5:1-2
From Last Week ...
When we follow Jesus into His story, we reflect the faithfulness, love, and power of Him. Sure, it's scary sometimes, but don't let fear stop you from all that God has for you. Trust Him even through the storms and difficulties of life allowing God to work in you and through you.
Everyone is invited to follow Jesus. Being a sinner doesn't disqualify you. Being a doubter doesn't disqualify you. The goal of following Jesus is a faith that overcomes fear of the future or our current circumstances. It's a faith that gives us peace. But what do people who follow Jesus look like? What do they wear?
Discussion Questions
  1. What's your favorite sports team or band? To what extremes have you gone to show your support for them?
  2. Talk about a time when you encountered a Christian who was more interested in making a point than making a difference. How did that person affect the way you view Jesus?
  3. Read Colossians 3:12-14. What are some of the challenges to living the kind of life Jesus calls his followers to live?
  4. In the message, Jeremy said, "Truth without grace is abuse and grace without truth is enablement." Do you agree or disagree with that statement? Why or why not?
  5. Think about one person in your life who is difficult to love. What is one thing you can do from this point forward to better love that person and show them both grace and truth? How can this group support you?
Next Step Challenge
Following Jesus means clothing yourself in patience, gentleness, kindness, compassion, humility, forgiveness, and love. That kind of faith is powerful. It's the kind of faith that makes a difference instead of just making a point. Imagine how that kind of faith would change people's perceptions of the church. Imagine how it would change communities, nations, and the world. How can you do your part to intentionally "put on" love this week?
Memory Verse
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. -Colossians 3:14
