September Safe Haven Update
September 12, 2017 by Relevant Community

Relevant, thank you for continuing to invest in, pray for, and support Safe Haven Orphanage on the Thai/Burma border! Your prayers and financial generosity are generating transformation in and through the children and staff at Safe Haven. Check out this month’s update for news and prayer requests from Safe Haven!

Celebrating Mother’s Day in Thailand

In Thailand, August 12th is a celebration of the birthday of Queen Sirikit. The Queen is regarded as mother to all Thai people, so this day is also celebrated as ‘Mother’s Day’. This tradition started more than 40 years ago, because of the queen’s benevolence towards poor and needy persons in Thailand. On Mother’s Day, Safe Haven hosted a special celebration, complete with performance by the children for “Big Mum” (Tasanee). On this day, the children lined up per Thai tradition to kneel at Tasanee’s feet to pay respect to all that she has done for them. Below are some pictures from Safe Haven’s celebration.

Nikom’s Birthday

The children and staff at Safe Haven celebrated Nikom’s birthday in August. Nikom grew up at Safe Haven and continues to live and work at Safe Haven, with his wife and children. He is one of Tasanee’s most dedicated and hardworking staff members.

Helping Build a School

This month, Tasanee and some of the children helped get stone and stand to begin preparing the school building for the Mae Joang School.

After a day of hard work, the kids enjoyed playing in the river 🙂

Prayer Requests

Please pray for…

The children and staff of Safe Haven. Pray for God’s protection over them, their health, and safety. Pray for the children as they go to school, that the children would enjoy learning and develop skills to provide opportunities for their futures. Pray for God to continue to work in and through the children and staff at Safe Haven. Pray that all the children will put their faith in Jesus, grow in relationship with Jesus, and live for Him, even at a young age, in a way that the Holy Spirit will use to draw their classmates and others they interact with to Jesus.

The October Safe Haven trip and team members. We’re excited to send our next team from Relevant to Safe Haven on October 20th! The team will be working with a solar panel company to install solar panels to provide the orphanage with consistent electricity. Pray for each of the team members (Jerry Rainey, Matt Anderson, Mark Gusse, Al Renner, Jack Uleman, and Josh Uleman) as they get ready to head to the Thai/Burma border. Pray for God’s continued preparation of their hearts and for spiritual protection from attacks of the enemy for each team member and his family. Pray for God’s hands to be on the final details and planning as they team gets ready to go.

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NLT)
